RecommendationAn Uncommon Whore by Belinda McBride is a good. A very good book. It had enough world-building, angst, romance and politics to make it a feel-good read. I'm glad the author didn't take it too far with the world-building or the politics, because as interesting as it all was, the premise wasn't made to be all dark, dank and complicated (not with a title like this one). I had one issue, and I think this tends to come from author's who write menage stories or mainly heterosexual stories (or from what I can see anyway). Is that they always need to add in a woman, now both the heroes were married and have kids. (SPOILERS) Lio's and Griffin's wives die, but Griffin's wife understood the love shared between her husband and his bodyguard/best friend/lover that they had threesomes together. In the story it's noted that if Suzane was still alive they would have been a threesome. I'm not interested in poly-relationships/romances or what have you. That took me out of the story, because I always tend to feel it reduces the love between the two people. Sure, the author did not make this into a menage (THANK YOU!) but that did make me go blah slightly.

I also read Heart and Soul by Evangeline Anderson, and you know it's one of those series that should have not been made. I enjoyed The Assignment, and the rest are a bore. The newest in the series, was just a copy of the first book, just...badly written and it just read like a real lazyily written book.
